Co-Founders

The Founders

Set Talent was started by people who have spent years on both sides of the mic: writing and performing sets, and building the shows and festivals that put comics in front of audiences.

Ronen Geisler

Ronen Geisler is a Toronto stand-up comedian and producer who has performed in clubs in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, New York City and Beijing. A schoolteacher by training, he found his way to the stage and has been building rooms ever since.

In 2016 he founded the Jewish Comedy Festival, launching Jews on the Roof because Toronto had no showcase dedicated to Jewish comedic talent. It has sold out year after year. In 2018 he co-created the Cannabis Comedy Festival, and he hosts the Learn English Funcast podcast, teaching English learners around the world through jokes.

At Set Talent, Ronen brings a producer’s eye for lineups that land and a comic’s understanding of what talent actually needs.

Ryan Hillis

Ryan Hillis has been doing stand-up since 2011. He has opened and toured for the late Gilbert Gottfried and Mike MacDonald, shared bills with Derek Edwards, Ed the Sock, Kenny vs. Spenny and Kenny Robinson, and is a regular at Toronto’s Comedy Bar.

His act has taken him across Canada and into the U.S., England and Australia. Offstage he is one of the busiest producers in Ontario comedy, behind the Cannabis Comedy Festival, Laughing Loud, Up in Jokes and the Whitby Comedy Festival, and in 2026 he headlined the Durham Comedy Festival.

Dad first, comic second, and the person who makes sure the show actually happens.

Co-Founder · Business & Partnerships

Andy D

Andy D brings about twenty years of experience building brands and businesses in heavily regulated, adult-focused industries across Canada, the United States and the Caribbean, from running restaurants and bars to advising companies listed on the Canadian Securities Exchange.

He leads CannSell, the mandated certification program for Ontario cannabis retail staff, and has served as President & CEO of the Canadian Cannabis Retailers Union. Earlier in his career he worked in brand communication at British American Tobacco.

At Set Talent, Andy runs the business side: partnerships, sponsors and the deals that put our comics in front of bigger audiences.
